Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra

• Commonly seen in Fitzpatrick skin types 4, 5, or 6.
• More frequent in females and often appears during adolescence.
• These dark-coloured papules resemble small seborrhoeic keratoses and are believed to stem from a developmental defect in hair follicles.
• Typically symptomless, they arise on the cheeks, forehead, neck, upper back, and chest.

Skin Tags

• Small popular lesions that hang off the skin
• Made of loosely arranged collagen fibres and capillaries surrounded by thickened skin

• Appear in areas of skin folds and friction such as neck, armpits and groin

• Vary in size from 1-5mm and can be skin coloured or darker

Skin tags can occur due to the following reasons:

• Skin irritation or chaffing
•  Friction
• High levels of growth factors
•  Insulin resistance

Is the treatment Painful?

There is some discomfort during the procedure. However, it is all over very quickly.

You can choose to use a topical anesthetic to numb the area.
